The beginning of the year finds us doing a few housekeeping procedures that are necessary. The students will be taking a few pre-assessments to determine their knowledge and level. This helps us place the children in different RTI tiers so they can get the help and support that they need.
The state of Texas also has their own set of standards and requirements that I will follow. Our first unit is going to be fairly integrated within all the core subjects. It will be a bit of a review from last year to refresh everyone's memories and get their minds moving and ready for new information and knowledge.
ELA - Review, then start literary elements of stories. Spelling and vocabulary.
Science - Review. Lab safety and rules. Forming hypothesis.
Social Studies - Geography time about the 50 states.
Math - Review. Multiplication tables/facts. Drills.
