Policies and Grading

Parents,

I will try my best to have as many grades, assignments, due dates, etc. loaded into Google Classroom. Students may access Google Classroom many times throughout the day. In addition, all grades and report cards will be displayed in Skyward. Parents can access Skyward to check on their students progress. In addition, I will send home a printed progress report every 3 weeks. If your student is failing or in danger of not passing the six weeks I will contact you via e-mail ASAP so we can make arrangements to ensure they pass.

Grades - In 4th grade we will start having separate formative and summative grades. Formative assignments will make up 40% and summative assignments will make up 60%. Students must make a 70 or above to remain in good standing.
A - 90-100
B - 80-89
C - 75-79
D - 70-74
F - 69 and below

Late Work - I will accept late work up to five days with a 10% deduction for each day that it is late.

Tardy/Absent - If your student is tardy or absent, they can get their assignments out of the file folder by my desk. It will have everything they need in there. It is their responsibility to check this folder. They will receive one day for each day they were absent to complete their work. Anything after that will be considered late.

Extra Credit - I do offer extra credit from time to time. Before exam/test days I will have an additional assignment that will serve as a study guide for the test. I will also have other oppurtunities throughout the six weeks.

Homework - I try not to assign very much homework as I do not feel it is very beneficial. There is time throughout the day to finish assignments. I do encourage daily reading, though. There will be a reading log in your child's folder to complete.

Tutoring - I am available for tutoring before and after school on certain days. Monday, Wednesday and Friday - 30 minutes before school
Tuesday and Thursday - 45 minutes after school

Conference Time - My conference time is from 9:45-10:30am every day while the students are in specials.
